Keyboard shortcuts
VibeStarter has two families of shortcuts: the command palette, which opens any page or action, and the agent shortcuts, which drive the terminal grid. Everything is set in
Settings → Shortcuts.
The command palette
Section titled “The command palette”The default shortcut is Ctrl + K, or Cmd + K on Mac. It can be changed, except to the keys the system reserves: C, V,
X, A and Z are refused (copy, paste, cut, select all, undo). The card also flags a risky choice: “Same as the agent activation key.”
The field shows “Search an action… (pages, panels, settings, themes)” and groups the results by category: Go to… for pages, Panels, Projects, the dev tools, the themes and the settings. A project is listed under its name. The search finds it by that name or by the name of its folder.
Outside a terminal, Esc closes one layer at a time: first the list, the palette or the open confirmation, then the window that holds it. Press it again to close the next one.
The agent shortcuts
Section titled “The agent shortcuts”They work in two steps: an activation key, then an action key. By default, the activation key is Ctrl + B.
| After Ctrl + B | What it does |
|---|---|
| ↑ ↓ ← → | Move focus from one pane to another |
| Z | Toggle Zoom: enlarge or shrink the active pane |
| Y | Toggle Broadcast: type into all panes at once |
| N / P | Next / previous tab |
| C | New tab |
| M | Toggle Notes |
All these shortcuts can be reassigned in Settings → Shortcuts →
Agent keybindings, with a Reset button. Two actions placed on the same key are not flagged: check the list after a change. While you type a new shortcut, the Esc and Tab keys cancel the input without changing anything: they cannot be assigned.
Text macros
Section titled “Text macros”A macro writes a text into the active terminal: Ctrl + B, then the key you assigned to it. An Auto send option submits the text straight away, without you having to press Enter.
This is the place to keep the instructions you keep retyping.
In an agent terminal
Section titled “In an agent terminal”On Mac, Cmd + C copies, as it does everywhere else.
The Esc key cancels a request from the agent. The app then shows “Agent request cancelled” and specifies that the agent is no longer waiting for your answer.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- The agent shortcuts all go through the activation key: there is no direct combination.
- The commands you type inside the agent (
/clear,/resume,/model…) are not VibeStarter shortcuts: they belong to the agent. See Launch and drive your agents.
Frequently asked questions
Section titled “Frequently asked questions”My agent does not stop when I press Ctrl+C. This is expected. Right-click in the terminal, then Send Ctrl+C to terminal.
The palette does not open with Ctrl+K. Another application may be capturing the shortcut. Reassign it in Settings →
Shortcuts → Command Palette.
I broke my shortcuts. How do I get back to the original values? Use the Reset button in the Agent keybindings section.
Can I type the same instruction to all my agents at once? Yes: Ctrl + B, then Y turns on Broadcast, which types into all panes at once. Press the same combination again to turn it off.
