Connect your AI account

Sign-in happens in each provider’s official tool.

Each agent uses your own AI account. Sign-in isn’t set up in a VibeStarter form: it goes through the provider’s official tool, which the app installs and starts for you. There are four cases depending on the agent: guided with a code to paste, guided with a device code, fully manual, or fully handled by the tool.

  • An account with the provider you chose. What each one requires is in VibeStarter’s AI agents.
  • An Internet connection: on first launch, the app installs the agent’s tool. The message shown is “Preparing the agent (first-launch install)…”.
  • You sign in from the settings, in the Agents & tools tab, section “Agent sign-in”, or when you launch: the Connect your agents box then opens for each agent that isn’t signed in yet. It never opens for OpenCode, which launches directly.

Anthropic’s page gives you a code, which you paste into VibeStarter.

  1. Click Connect with Claude.
  2. Click the sign-in link: it opens in your browser.
  3. Sign in with your Claude account.
  4. Copy the code you get and paste it into the “Sign-in code” field, then click Submit.

If no window opens or the link doesn’t paste correctly, open the agent’s terminal with

Show terminal: you can see the full link there and copy it by hand.

VibeStarter shows a code, which you enter on OpenAI’s page.

  1. Turn on “Sign in with device code” in the security settings of your ChatGPT account. You only need to do this once, and the Open ChatGPT security settings button takes you there.
  2. Click Connect with ChatGPT.
  3. Open the sign-in link and enter the code shown in VibeStarter.
  4. Confirm in your browser: the sign-in finishes by itself.

Same pattern as Codex: a device code.

  1. Click Connect with Grok.
  2. Open the sign-in link and enter the code shown.
  3. Confirm on the xAI page.

The app notes a limit on xAI’s side: “Native image tools require a compatible xAI plan.” Without that plan, ask another agent for your images instead, or use the AI Studio.

Antigravity is the only agent whose sign-in is entirely manual. VibeStarter shows the card “Sign in from a terminal”.

  1. Open a Terminal tab.
  2. Type the command agy.
  3. Follow the Google sign-in that appears in the terminal.

The app explains why: “Google sign-in happens between Google and you: VibeStarter never sees it.”

OpenCode has no sign-in step in VibeStarter: it manages its own list of providers. API key, OpenCode Go subscription or another provider: VibeStarter checks nothing and launches the agent without asking any questions. The OpenCode card therefore never shows “Not connected”.

  1. Launch an OpenCode agent.
  2. In its terminal, choose your provider from the list OpenCode offers.
  3. Follow that provider’s procedure.

The card shown in VibeStarter carries the publisher’s recommendation: “Our recommendation: OpenCode Go”. The Create a key on opencode.ai/go button leads there. The app’s text adds: “You pick your provider in OpenCode, whenever you like.”

Go to the settings, in the Agents & tools tab. Two sections are of interest.

“CLI Tool Configuration” shows a status for each agent: “Installed”, “Not found”, “Outdated” or “Unexpected installation”. Two actions:

  • Update all reinstalls the current versions from the official sources.
  • Reset deletes the installed executables and installs fresh copies. The confirmation “Reset CLI overrides?” says it clearly: “Projects, connections, settings and agent conversations are kept.”

“MCP Gateway” shows whether VibeStarter’s tools are properly connected to your agents: “MCP gateway synced” or “Repair required”. The Repair configs button restarts the sync, and a repair keeps all your conversations.

An agent holds only one account at a time. To change it, use the tool’s commands in the agent’s terminal: /logout then /login.

  • One sign-in per agent. You can’t have two Claude accounts connected to the same agent at the same time.
  • VibeStarter doesn’t display your quota. You can check it on your provider’s website.
  • The team advises against model aggregators: they give very little volume compared with a direct subscription.
  • Some providers refuse accounts for users under 18. The provider’s terms apply; VibeStarter doesn’t change them.
  • The app doesn’t read your credentials. To know whether an agent is signed in, it checks that the tool’s sign-in file exists, without reading its contents. A folder you give to an agent is copied without its credential folders or its key files (.env, SSH keys, certificates); such a file dropped or pasted on its own is refused.

“I can’t sign in. Which messages should I read?” The app’s messages state the cause:

Message What to do
“Installing the agent failed. Check your internet connection, then try again.” Check the connection, then launch again
“Couldn’t launch the sign-in tool. Make sure the environment is running, then try again.” Wait for the app to finish starting, then try again
“The sign-in stopped before completing. Try again, or open the terminal to see the details.” Open the agent’s terminal to read the real cause
“The sign-in link isn’t showing up. Open the terminal to see what’s blocking, or start over.” Open the agent’s terminal
“Still not connected? Double-check the code, or start over.” Re-enter the code, without any missing or extra characters

“Do I need to connect all five agents?” No. One connected agent is enough to work.

“Can I launch without being signed in?” Yes. At launch, the Connect your agents box opens, except for OpenCode, which always starts directly. The Launch anyway button starts the agent without signing in: it will then ask you to sign in from its terminal. For Codex, choose the second option in its menu, Sign in with Device Code.

“Can VibeStarter see my credentials?” The sign-in exchange belongs to your provider’s official tool. VibeStarter never uses a subscription token to call a provider on your behalf.
