Install VibeStarter on Windows

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, Intel or AMD processor.

VibeStarter is distributed in a single format on Windows: an .exe installer. There is no .msi package, no portable version, and no Microsoft Store version.

Check that your computer passes the checks described in Check that your computer is compatible, in particular the Virtualization line in Task Manager.

  1. On vibestarter.pro, open the download page and choose Windows. The file name ends with _x64-setup.exe.

  2. Decide which drive VibeStarter should live on, and move the installer there. The installer installs on the drive where it is located. To put everything on D:, move the downloaded file into a folder on D:, then run it from there.

  3. Run the file.

  4. If Windows shows a blue SmartScreen screen (“Windows protected your PC”), click

    More info, then Run anyway.

  5. Let the installer finish, then open Vibe Starter from the Start menu.

  6. The first-launch wizard opens on the Hardware step. Its Storage folder box shows the path chosen: check that it is on the drive you want. The rest is described in The first launch, step by step.

The installer is signed, with Microsoft’s code signing service. SmartScreen does not show a virus warning: it flags a certificate it has seen only a little so far. The warning disappears as the signature gains reputation.

If the screen offers no More info button, the downloaded file is not the one from the website. Delete it and start again from vibestarter.pro.

Where the app installs, and where your data goes

Section titled “Where the app installs, and where your data goes”

The application installs under the name Vibe Starter — this is the spelling used by the installer, the Start menu, and the program folder. Inside the application, the name is written VibeStarter.

The installer’s drive decides. The installer asks no folder question: it installs on the drive where its .exe is located, and stores its heavy data below it — the virtual machine, your projects, your local library, and the Blender work. This is the only way to put VibeStarter anywhere other than C:, and it is decided before the double-click.

The app shows this at the Hardware step: the Storage folder box shows the path chosen, with the note “Chosen automatically”, and reminds you what it contains: your projects and their backups. Some preferences and caches stay in the Windows profile. The details of the folders are in Where your data is on disk.

Two cases fail cleanly, without a fallback installation on C:: an installer run from a network share, and a drive Windows cannot write to. The installer says so and stops — copy it to the drive you want, then run it again.

The installer does not touch Roblox Studio. It is the app, at first launch and after your explicit agreement, that places its VibeStarter Sync plugin in Studio’s plugins folder. See Link VibeStarter to Roblox Studio.

  • One installer format, no portable version.
  • No Windows on ARM, no 32-bit Windows.
  • The drive can no longer be changed afterward. Neither the installer nor the settings move an installation already in use.

Windows says “Unknown publisher”. Is it a fake file? No. Go through More info, then Run anyway, as long as you downloaded the file from vibestarter.pro.

I want to install the app on a drive other than the system drive. Move the installer to that drive before running it: the program and its heavy data will go there. Make sure you have the recommended 20 GB free. Preferences, sign-in credentials, and some caches stay in your user profile, on the system drive.

This drive must be formatted as NTFS, the format of Windows internal drives: the installer reserves the app’s folder for your Windows account, so that another account on the same PC can neither read your projects nor modify the program. An exFAT or FAT32 drive (often a USB key or an external drive) cannot do this: the installer refuses it and asks you to choose another one.

I have already installed on C: and want to move to D:. This is not supported from the app. Reinstalling from D: does not move existing data: it keeps its location.

My antivirus blocks the installation. Some antivirus programs also inspect HTTPS traffic and then prevent connecting to the account. See I can’t sign in.
