Coming soon

Authorization is given on Discord, then confirmed on a VibeStarter page.

The installation starts in the app, goes through Discord, on the standard app consent screen, and ends on a VibeStarter confirmation page. This flow in the app does not keep the OAuth tokens of your Discord account. The login to the future web dashboard will use a separate session, limited to one hour, with an encrypted Discord token kept to check your rights. The link between your game and your server, the settings, and the information the bot needs to work are kept according to its privacy policy.

## Bot links

The permanent link [Install the bot on your server](https://vibestarter.pro/en/discord/installation) presents the two ways to access the bot: the bot alone, through the web dashboard, and Community, through the app. It does not replace the Discord authorization and gives no extra rights. Before customer access opens, this page says the bot is not open yet.

The [bot terms](https://vibestarter.pro/en/discord/conditions) and its [privacy policy](https://vibestarter.pro/en/discord/confidentialite) can be read without a VibeStarter account, including by members of your server. The policy explains which data is processed, how long it is kept, and how to request deletion. Unlinking does not erase all of the game’s data.

## Before you start

- **You install it**, as the Community holder for this game. The Discord server must be yours, or you must be able to add an application to it: on Discord, that is limited to members with the **Manage Server** permission.
- **Your Discord account must be linked to your VibeStarter account.** You link it with the Join Discord button, on the home page of your account area (vibestarter.pro/account): see [Get member access](/en/communaute/discord/#get-member-access-after-you-buy). Without a linked Discord account, the installation does not start.
- **The Discord account that authorizes must be that linked account.** Another Discord account is refused, even if it administers the server. So nobody can install the bot for you, and an installation link passed on to someone else links nothing.
- **That Discord account must keep managing the server.** If it is no longer the owner or an administrator and no longer has the **Manage Server** permission, the bot stops acting: see [Renew the authorization](/en/services/discord-du-jeu/installer-le-bot/#renew-the-authorization).
- **A server can be linked to only one game, and a game to only one server.** If the server is already used for another game, the installation is refused: see [If the installation is refused](/en/services/discord-du-jeu/installer-le-bot/#if-the-installation-is-refused).

## Install

1. Open your project, the Community tab, then the Discord section. The screen shows “Three steps, then the agent takes over,” and step 1,

Install the bot on your Discord server, says “No server linked.”

2. Click Install the bot, to the right of the step. Your browser opens Discord, and the app says: “Discord is open in your browser. Finish the installation there, then come back here.”

3. On Discord, signed in with the account linked to your VibeStarter account, choose the server from the list, review the permissions requested, then authorize.

4. A VibeStarter page opens in the same browser, in French: “Give this game control of the bot on your server?” It names the Discord server, the game (your project’s name and the game’s ID on Roblox), the game’s VibeStarter account, partly hidden, and the Discord account you are signed in with. Check them, then click the confirm button (« Confirmer l’association »). The refuse button (« Refuser ») links nothing and makes the bot leave the server. With no answer within ten minutes, nothing is linked either.

5. The page shows “Discord server linked. Return to VibeStarter to check the bot and set up the channels.” Go back to the app.

6. Step 1 shows “Waiting for the bot: no sign for 3 minutes.” even in the first few seconds, then, as soon as the bot has reported in, “Bot connected · N channels visible.” Step 2, the Roblox API key, and step 3, starting the agent, remain. Once the game is connected, the three steps collapse into one line that reads “Bot connected · N channels visible,” “Game wired,” and the time of the bot’s last report.

If the app stays on “Waiting for the bot: no sign for 3 minutes,” the bot has not reported in yet. Give it a minute before you worry.

## If the installation is refused

A refusal after Discord appears in the browser, not in the app, under the title “Installation interrupted,” followed by its cause. These pages are in French; their sentences are translated here. In the app, step 1 stays on “No server linked.” If Discord had already added the bot to the server, the page adds “Nothing was linked: the bot leaves the server within the next few minutes.”

| The page starts with | What you do |
| --- | --- |
| “The Discord account that just authorized is not the one linked to this game’s VibeStarter account.” | Sign in to Discord with the linked account, or change it on the home page of your account area: Unlink, then Join Discord. |
| “This game’s VibeStarter account has no linked Discord account.” | Link your Discord account: Join Discord button, on the home page of your account area. |
| “Discord did not confirm the account that authorizes.” | Start again: Discord did not answer. |
| “This server is already linked to another game.” | Choose another server, or unlink it from the other game. |
| “This game is already linked to another server.” | [Unlink it](/en/services/discord-du-jeu/dissocier/) before choosing a new one. |
| “The game Discord bot is full for now: no new installation is possible.” | All the bot’s places are taken. Write to **[support@vibestarter.pro](mailto:support@vibestarter.pro)** to be told when one frees up. |
| “This link has expired or was already used.” | You waited too long, or reopened an old link. |
| “This confirmation has expired, was already used, or was opened in a different browser than the one that authorized Discord.” | Redo the whole flow in a single browser, without spending more than ten minutes on the confirmation. |
| “This game’s link changed during the installation.” | Another installation went through in the meantime: check the Discord section. |
| “Community is not active for this game.” | Community ended during the installation. |
| “Installation refused, expired or unavailable. Start again from the game in VibeStarter.” | The cause is not given: authorization canceled on Discord, or service temporarily unavailable. |

If you clicked the refuse button, the page says “Link refused.” and the bot leaves the server within the next few minutes.

Once the cause is resolved, start Install the bot again from the app.

## The permissions requested, one by one

The Discord consent screen lists the permissions needed. Here is why each one is requested:

| Discord permission | What it is for |
| --- | --- |
| **View Channels** | List the channels where the bot can post. |
| **Send Messages** | Post your game’s announcements. |
| **Embed Links** | Make sure the links in your announcements display correctly. |
| **Attach Files** | Attach an image to an announcement. |
| **Read Message History** | Find **its own** messages to edit or remove them. |
| **Manage Channels** | Create, rename, or delete a channel **when you ask it to**. |
| **Manage Roles** | Create a role and set a channel’s access **when you ask it to**. |
| **Add Reactions** | Add a reaction to a message it posted. |
| **Manage Server** | Read and configure Discord’s native AutoMod rules. |
| **Timeout Members** | Allow a timeout in an AutoMod rule, only when you ask for it. |

Here is what is **not requested**, and so cannot be done: **Administrator**, **Kick Members** and **Ban Members**, **Manage Messages** of others, **Manage Webhooks**, **Manage Nicknames**.

The bot cannot grant itself more rights

A role that holds an administration or moderation permission is off limits to the bot, as are the `@everyone` role, roles placed above its own, and its own role. Every action it takes leaves a readable trace in your server’s audit log, in the form “VibeStarter action …”.

If the bot is already installed, use **Reinstall the bot** to renew these permissions. It never receives the Administrator right. The “Manage Server” permission is required by Discord for AutoMod; the agent’s tools remain limited to the planned actions.

## What VibeStarter can see of your server

The bot reports **the list of channels and roles** on your server. This is what lets it suggest a channel to post in, and check that it is allowed to post there. The “Bot connected · N channels visible” status shows that number.

It does **not** report the content of your players’ messages, your member list, their online status, or their private messages. It simply does not receive that feed.

## Renew the authorization

The Reinstall the bot button appears, on step 1 or on the server’s row, when the bot can no longer work, or when it is missing rights to manage channels and roles. It reruns the authorization **on the same server**, keeping your settings and your announcement rules. Actions waiting when you renew are canceled. It goes through the confirmation page again.

The bot regularly checks that the Discord account that installed it still manages the server. If that account has left the server or no longer has the rights there, the bot stops acting without deleting anything. Reinstall it from your linked Discord account, once that account manages the server again; without a reinstallation within 30 days, the bot leaves the server and the link is released.

This is different from unlinking, which cuts the connection. See [Unlink your server](/en/services/discord-du-jeu/dissocier/).

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I install the bot on a server I don’t own?** Only if your linked Discord account is allowed to add an application to it: the **Manage Server** permission, which Discord grants or not.

**Can my community manager install the bot for me?** No. The Discord account that authorizes must be the one linked to your VibeStarter account. Give your own Discord account the **Manage Server** permission on that server, then install it yourself.

**Someone sent me a link to “add the bot” to my server.** Do not authorize it. An installation link is only valid for the account that requested it from its game. If you land on the confirmation page of a game that is not yours, click the refuse button: nothing is linked and the bot leaves your server.

**Does it create channels right away?** No. The installation changes nothing on your server. Channels and roles only change if you ask the agent.

**The browser says “Installation interrupted.”** The installation did not complete. The sentence that follows gives the cause: see [If the installation is refused](/en/services/discord-du-jeu/installer-le-bot/#if-the-installation-is-refused).

**The app says “Link this game to the project first.”** Your project is not yet linked to a Roblox game. The link is created in the app when you link a Roblox Studio place to the project: see [Link a place to your project](/en/application/studio/lier-une-place/).
