Online backup starts on its own as soon as you open a project while you are signed in to your account.

Your work is not in just one place. It is spread across three: your computer, VibeStarter Cloud and Roblox. Knowing what each one holds explains most surprises — why your code follows you from one machine to another, and why your 3D models stay where they are.

## The three places

Three areas — your computer, VibeStarter Cloud and Roblox — with what each one holds. One arrow carries the code from your computer to the Cloud. A second arrow carries published assets from your computer to Roblox. — YOUR COMPUTER — VIBESTARTER CLOUD — ROBLOX — Your code — Your images, sounds, 3D models — Your local library — Version history — Your code — Its configuration — Version history — And nothing else. — Your published assets — Your live game — Your players’ data — the code — publishing an asset or an update — Your images, sounds and 3D models never go through the code backup.

Code goes online and comes back on any computer you sign in to. Images, sounds and 3D models never go through this backup: they go straight to Roblox when you publish.

## What each one holds

| Place | What it keeps | What it does not keep |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Your computer** | Everything: the project folder, the code, the images, the sounds, the 3D models, your local library | Nothing — it is the only place that has everything |
| **VibeStarter Cloud** | The code, the project settings, your version history | The images, the sounds, the music, the 3D models |
| **Roblox** | The assets you published, your live game, your players’ data | Your source files: the code, the Blender projects, your raw footage |

## The Cloud backs up your code, not your media

This is a choice, not a temporary limit. The online backup only contains text: your scripts, your project settings and your version history. Everything else — images, icons, sounds, music, 3D models — stays on your disk.

The reason is simple: once published, your assets are hosted by Roblox, and Roblox serves them to your players. Duplicating them in a code backup would cost a lot without protecting anything more.

The backup panel says it plainly: “Images, models and sounds stay on this machine; Roblox hosts them once uploaded.”

The consequence to be aware of

If your disk fails, your code can be recovered; your source files for images and 3D models cannot. Choose where you keep your assets knowing this: see [Where your assets go](/en/application/assets/ou-vont-tes-assets/).

## Two different counters, only one is a quota

The Settings → Storage screen shows two things that are easily confused:

- **The community asset bank** has a quota per account. When it is reached, nothing breaks: your new assets are simply kept on your computer.
- **Backups of your Cloud projects** have no account quota and are not affected by the bank’s quota. The screen says so: “Your Cloud projects always back up, even at the asset quota.”

The details of asset storage are covered in [Where your assets go](/en/application/assets/ou-vont-tes-assets/).

## Cloud project or local project

A project of yours, opened while you are signed in, becomes a **Cloud project** on its own: there is no button to press. Until you have opened it, its card in the project list says “Not synced with the Cloud”; the Sync button on the card uploads it online without opening it.

In the Versions panel, a project that is not linked to the Cloud shows the badge “Local project (not shared)”: it is neither backed up online nor shareable.

One exception: a project created with another VibeStarter account on the same computer does not join your Cloud. See [Several accounts on the same computer](/en/application/projet/changer-d-ordinateur/#several-accounts-on-the-same-computer).

## Delete a project, or detach it

Three actions in the project list, which you should not confuse:

| Action | Where it is | What happens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Delete, or Delete the local copy on a Cloud project you own | ⋮ menu of a project present on this computer | **The folder is erased from the disk.** The online backup is not touched: a Cloud project stays in the list with the mention “in the Cloud”. |
| Delete from the Cloud | ⋮ menu of the project, whether it is present on this computer or only “in the Cloud”; owner only | **The online backup is deleted** and all collaborators lose access. No file is erased: each copy stays on its computer. |
| Unlink from the Cloud | Offered only on a project whose online backup no longer exists or is no longer accessible | The copy is no longer attached to this online project. No file is erased. |

Before erasing the folder, the app names the project and says what stays:

| The project | The confirmation |
| --- | --- |
| Backed up in the Cloud | “Delete the local copy?” — “‘…’ will be deleted from this computer. The project stays in the Cloud: you can open it again with ‘Open here’. Whatever is not yet synced there, and the images, models and sounds left on this machine, will be lost.” |
| Yours, and the Cloud does not have it | “Remove Project?” — “‘…’ will be deleted from this computer. It is not backed up in the Cloud: it will be lost for good.” |
| The app does not know: Cloud list not yet loaded, or project from another account | “Remove Project?” — “‘…’ will be deleted from the disk. This cannot be undone.” |

As soon as the local copy of a project backed up in the Cloud is deleted, its “in the Cloud” card appears in the list, with Open here.

Deleting from the Cloud, however, is permanent: the app reminds you before confirming.

After Delete from the Cloud, your copy stays on the computer you launched it from, with the mention “Not synced with the Cloud”. It is no longer backed up online until you click Sync on its card; it then starts again as a new project, without its former collaborators.

The other copies — a collaborator’s, or yours on another computer — are no longer shared, but they do not stay offline: as soon as their user opens them again, they are backed up online again, as a new project under their name.

## Your data

What VibeStarter keeps, for how long, and on which legal basis is described in the [privacy policy](https://vibestarter.pro/en/privacy-policy) of the website, which is authoritative. Managing your account and exporting your data are covered in [Your account and your data](/en/offres/compte-et-donnees/).
